Alfred Fedak’s “Spring Bursts Today” premieres.

April 17, 2012 § 1 Comment

Composed expressly for the inauguration of Opus 139 this past Easter Sunday, organist Christian Lane and the Harvard University Choir, under the direction of Edward Elwyn Jones, put CB Fisk’s new organ for Memorial Church through its first paces. Opus 139 replaces Opus 46, also designed and built by Charles Fisk’s company (1967), but placed in the Appleton Chapel, where the acoustics could never quite do it the justice it deserved. The new organ is dedicated to Charles Fisk (1925-1983), who would have loved the placement of the new organ in the gallery, where he always wanted it, and to the late Reverend Peter J. Gomes (1942-2011), who was for years the Pusey Minister of the Memorial Church and the driving force behind the commissioning of the new organ.

I’d love a copy of this. Enjoyed hearing the choir. Particularly liked that a choir was able to look at the director.:)
